Door bell switches were used to replace existing lighted switches of the cast metal form. What was missing was the dimensions for the location of the screws. This was very important when mounting on masonry surfaces. However, using the overall dimensions and the picture on line was able to determine that the screw location was correct for replacing the old switch.
I bought this doorbell to use with my musical doorbell chime. HOWEVER, this doorbell button does NOT have a diode. That means you must hold down the button for a long time so it'll play the length of the music. Most people are not used to this and just press the button quickly and a quick ding happens which no one hears. To resolve this problem, I went to Radio Shack and bought a diode Radio Shack® catalog# is 276-1102 for $0.99. Diodes direct the electricity one direction, so if you install it the wrong direction, it won't work and it won't harm anything. So just flip it around. Next, if the light doesn't work anymore in the doorbell button, take off the diode and flip the button the other direction, put back the diode in the correct direction, and it should work. If not, keep flipping things around till both light and doorbell button work correctly.
